Broken Social Scene at the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in Manchester, Tennessee. Music from the band's albums was used to score the 2006 film Half Nelson. "Stars and Sons" from You Forgot It in People also appeared in the movie The Invisible. "Looks Just Like the Sun" was featured in the 2006 film Swedish Auto. "Lover's Spit" is referenced in the 2013 Lorde song, " Ribs". Showtime's television program The L Word featured "Pacific Theme" and "Looks Just Like the Sun", both from You Forgot It in People, in the show's first season. The version of "Lover's Spit" found on 2004's Bee Hives record was also featured in an episode of the third season of the FX series Nip/Tuck. īroken Social Scene's song " Lover's Spit" from 2002's You Forgot It in People has been featured in director Clément Virgo's movie Lie with Me (2005), Paul McGuigan's Wicker Park (2004), Bruce McDonald's The Love Crimes of Gillian Guess (2004), Showtime's Queer as Folk (2003) and the penultimate episode of the Canadian series Terminal City (2005). In 2003, the B-sides and remix collection Bee Hives was released. On the supporting tour, the core band consisted of Drew, Canning, Peroff, Whiteman and Jason Collett, along whichever band members were available on each show date. The album also included musical contributions by Priddle, Jessica Moss, Brodie West, Susannah Brady and Ohad Benchetrit, but these were credited as supporting musicians rather than band members. The album was produced by David Newfeld and released on Paper Bag Records in October 2002 and won the Alternative Album of the Year Juno Award in 2003. You Forgot It in People Īll of the musicians from the live show joined Drew, Canning, Peroff and Spearin to record the band's second album, You Forgot It in People. Over time, the band came to include contributions from James Shaw, Justin Peroff, John Crossingham, and Stars member Amy Millan. ĭrew and Canning's material at the time was almost entirely instrumental, so they brought together musicians from the Toronto indie scene, the album contributors as well as Andrew Whiteman, Jason Collett, and Metric's Emily Haines, to flesh out their live show with lyrics and vocals. This duo recorded and released the band's ambient debut album, Feel Good Lost, on Noise Factory Records in 2001, with contributions by Justin Peroff, Charles Spearin, Bill Priddle, Leslie Feist, Jessica Moss and Stars' Evan Cranley. The band was formed in 1999 by core members Kevin Drew and Brendan Canning. The collective and their respective projects have had a broad influence on alternative music and indie rock during the early 21st century, in 2021 Pitchfork listed the band among the "most important artists" of the last 25 years. In 2010, Bruce McDonald made This Movie Is Broken, a movie about the band's Harbourfront show during the 2009 Toronto strike. Stuart Berman's This Book Is Broken (2009) covers the band from its inception to its critical acclaim. It includes grand orchestrations featuring guitars, horns, woodwinds, and violins, unusual song structures, and an experimental, and sometimes chaotic production style from David Newfeld, who produced the second and third albums. The group's sound combines elements of all of its members' respective musical projects, and is occasionally considered baroque pop. These associated acts include Metric, Feist, Stars, Apostle of Hustle, Do Make Say Think, KC Accidental, Emily Haines & The Soft Skeleton, Amy Millan, and Jason Collett. Most of its members play in various other groups and solo projects, mainly in the city of Toronto. Alongside Drew and Canning, the other core members of the band are Justin Peroff (drums), Andrew Whiteman (guitar) and Charles Spearin (guitar). QSOG Memo QSO-22-08-NH, Nursing Home Staff Turnover and Weekend Staffing Levels, has been posted. The Related Links section below contains a link to the Nursing Home Care Compare web site where you can find and compare nursing homes near you. The Downloads section below contains the Five-Star Quality Rating System Technical Users' Guide that provides in-depth descriptions of the ratings and the methods used to calculate them. Consumers should therefore use the Web site together with other sources of information for the nursing homes (including a visit to the nursing home) and State or local organizations (such as local advocacy groups and the State Ombudsman program). Visits can improve both the residents' quality of life and quality of care, it may be better to select a nursing home that is very close over one that may be, rated higher but far away. Examples include the extent to which specialty care is provided (such as specialized rehabilitation or dementia care) or how easy it will be for family members to visit. There is one Overall 5-star rating for each nursing home, and separate ratings for health inspections, staffing and quality measures.Ĭaution : No rating system can address all of the important considerations that go into a decision about which nursing home may be best for a particular person. Nursing homes with 5 stars are considered to have much above average quality and nursing homes with 1 star are considered to have quality much below average. The Nursing Home Care Compare web site features a quality rating system that gives each nursing home a rating of between 1 and 5 stars. The overall star rating for July was calculated using July 2023 Care Compare data.ĬMS last year updated data for the hospital quality star ratings. CMS overhauled the ratings' methodology in 2020.CMS created the Five-Star Quality Rating System to help consumers, their families, and caregivers compare nursing homes more easily and to help identify areas about which you may want to ask questions. Three CMS five-star hospitals on Long Island alone proves our commitment to quality care and excellent outcomes, from the environmental service workers and cooks to our nurses and clinicians."ĬMS released the 2023 Five-Star Quality Rating System on Wednesday. "I'm proud to say this was our best showing yet as a health system. "Northwell Health analyzes the results of each hospital's CMS report each year, internalizes them, course corrects where needed and strives to reach higher," said Michael Dowling, Northwell's president and CEO. Northwell hospitals earning 4-stars are Glen Cove Hospital, Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan, Northern Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco and Staten Island University Hospital.Įleven of its 12 hospitals evaluated either maintained or improved their CMS standing since 2022, Northwell said. Five-star hospitals include North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, Huntington Hospital and Mather Hospital in Port Jefferson. Northwell Health, among the largest systems in New York, said it has seven hospitals that earned 4 and 5 stars this year. Hospitals that rank high in quality metrics, including patient surveys, tout the results to consumers who are looking to choose a healthcare facility. The more stars, the better a hospital performed across five areas of quality: mortality, safety of care, readmission, patient experience, and timely and effective care.ĬMS also uses patient surveys for the star rating system. The overall rating shows how well each hospital performed on a set of quality measures compared to other hospitals in the U.S. Rankings for individual hospitals can be found by zip code on. The majority of hospitals in 2022 received 3 or 4 stars, with 890 hospitals getting 4 stars and that same number receiving 3 stars. In 2022, 3,093 hospitals were in the dataset.īreaking down this year's numbers: 483, or 15.7% of the total received 5 stars 803, or 26.11% received 4 stars 872 or 28.35% received 3 stars 668, or 21.72% received 2 stars and 250, or 8.13% received 1 star. More hospitals were rated this year than last. More than 75% of the 4,654 hospitals in the Care Compare Dataset for 2023 received 2, 3 or 4 stars. This compares to 429 hospitals that received 5 stars in 2022. In the latest Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services hospital star rating system, 483 received the highest ranking of 5 stars. A block may turn out to be two blocks, a chess piece might lift off the floor and carry a chunk of that floor with it. Fairly soon objects themselves are not what they appear to be. Superliminal is just getting going though. A vast dice can be pulled from the wall to reveal a gaping hole behind it. A huge chess piece, for example, can weigh down a pressure plate. All of these can be blown up or shrunk down, and the pleasure of Superliminal often lies in finding a surprisingly practical use for such a fantastical object. So you know how to make objects bigger and smaller than they initially are - by making them appear to be as big or small as you want them to be. More than anything it's just a wonderful puzzle game. But it's a mediated dream, I guess - a lab dream. At first I worried, like I mentioned, that it wasn't particularly dreamlike - that Hawthorne was right and the subject was just too tough. At first I worried this was going to be one of those games that follows the comical bureaucratic blandspeak template of Portal, but it's a lot more interesting and heartfelt than that. Your job is to navigate increasingly fraught environments looking for the exit. It gets a lot more complex than that, of course. If you can position the block so it looks big enough to climb upon to get to that door - voila! The block will be big enough. You have a little wooden block in your hand. Let's say there's a room with a door halfway up the wall that you really want to get through. It is not, in truth, particularly dreamlike a lot of the time, but it is set amongst dreams - in a sort of dream laboratory in which you are thoroughly lost. "Up to this old age of the world, no such thing has never been written." He meant: "a dream which shall resemble the real course of a dream, with all its inconsistencies, its eccentricities and aimlessness - with nevertheless a leading idea running through the whole." Tough gig? Quite. Hawthorne's ambition was "to write a dream". Anyway, now we've had the moon, here's Nathaniel Hawthorne on dreams. I put the moon up front with this because I hate to open with a quote straight off. Up above me I could see the moon through an open skylight, so I grabbed it and brought it down to earth. I was stuck in a room somewhere with no exits. This is a puzzling masterclass with a heart as well as a brain.Īt one point in Superliminal the moon came to my aid. The deva's spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 17). If the unicorn dies, these effects end immediately. When the deva hits with any weapon, the weapon deals an extra 4d8 radiant damage (included in the attack).

Microsoft Office 2021 v16.73 Cracked for macOS If you're a happy Topaz user or you're happy with another noise reduction bundle, I don't see much reason to switch. We'll have to wait a few days to see how the Neo extension does in the same environment. The Topaz plug-in is native on Apple Silicon and very fast. I did prefer the split-screen Topaz offered for comparison, but Luminar Neo offers an icon that lets you switch from the original to the noise-reduced image. I thought Topaz did a slightly better job at preserving detail, but the two programs were pretty close. It picked the parameters for noise reduction. Topaz has an automatic mode, and that's what I used. This also cleaned up nicely (you're seeing it at 200% enlargement, but it's been reduced to fit our format). I took the same file in Topaz DeNoise AI and here's the result: I did feel the ground lost a little sharpness, and I saw very little improvement when I pushed the detail and sharpness sliders. I then selected medium noise reduction, and here's the result:Įve, with my reduced in size and compressed JPEG, you can see things have been cleaned up nicely. Here's a blowup of part of the frame at 300% magnification. It appears as various sizes of blotches and other defects, most easily seen in the brighter sections of the sky. (It's a bit compressed and shrunken to fit our page, but you can see the noise). I opened a low-light sunset file with Noiseless AI, and the noise was easy to see. And there's an option to recover original detail and to increase sharpness, which I take as edge enhancement. There's also a slider we see on most noise reduction offerings, and that's for color noise reduction. The extension will make a recommendation for the amount of noise reduction, or you can choose your own. Skylum says it will work on any type of file, but I did all my work on raw files. By year's end, Sklyum says Neo will have a total of seven extensions on offer. The first was the HDR extension that appeared last month, and Noiseless AI is the second. Of course, the folks at Skylum would like to keep you in their Neo Ecosystem, so we're beginning to see the equivalent of plug-ins or extensions within Luminar Neo. These new editing and noise removal techniques can allow us to push our equipment beyond where we could even a few years ago.Īs a landscape and night sky photographer, I'm well aware of the need for noise reduction, and I've been a fan of Topaz DeNoise AI since it's been available and earlier iterations for years. Landscape photographers, wedding photographers, portrait and advertising photographers: we all deal with low light and the noise that can result.ĭigital editing has made the problem much easier to deal with. Just about everyone living in the world of photography has issues with noise. Keyboard warriors will be happy to see Magnet’s customizable list of keyboard shortcuts. You can drag a window to the bottom of the display to snap the window to a third or two-thirds window, while dragging to any of the four corners snaps the window to that corner. If you grab a window and drag that window to any edge of the display, Magnet will provide a greyed-out popover of the screen to preview the window placement. I am, of course, a fan of the latter option. Magnet provides two simple ways to manage windows: using the mouse to snap windows into place, or extensive and customizable keyboard shortcuts. To have Magnet send the window to the true center of the display, you’ll need to have your dock positioned at the bottom of the display. One annoyance though: “Center” in Magnet terminology means the “center of the usable display”, which means Magnet centers the window between the outer edge of the display and the edge of the dock if you keep your dock on the right or left. This is useful for taking full-screen screenshots and putting into a mockup or Apple Frame, or for sharing a professional screencast with someone. I also appreciate the ability to center a window on the display. Once on the other display, another keyboard shortcut can put that window into position for work.Īll without taking your hands off the keyboard. User a Hyper keyboard shortcut ( Control + Option + Command) and the right or left arrow, you can send the frontmost window to your other display. However, lifting your hands from the keyboard to click and drag those windows into position is an incredible annoyance. When working with external displays, you have the freedom to spread out your work and view things side-by-side. The last four options are where Magnet shines. Left third, left two-thirds, center third, right two-thirds, and right third.Top left, top right, bottom left, and bottom right quarter. The standards are there, but there are a few extras that I find particularly useful for taking screenshots or for sharing screens. Out of the box, Magnet has 18 different window management options. Best of all, Magnet goes far beyond what you find as default in Windows 11. Many folks like Moom or BetterSnapTool, but I use Magnet for window management on macOS. If you want Windows 11-level window management on macOS, you’ll need a third-party app. Combine this with the Windows-key keyboard shortcuts for shooting windows right, left, up, and down, and you have fantastic window management support baked right in. Hovering over the maximize button in the top right corner provides a plethora of window management options - you can send the window to any of the four corners, to a third or two-thirds of the display, to half of the display, or even send one window to half of the display with the other windows taking the remaining quarters of the display. Windows 11 blows macOS out of the water here. Clicking and holding the full-screen green button in the top left provides four options: full-screen (and this is macOS’s full-screen, so it creates a whole new space for the full-screen app), tiled left or right, or the ability to send the window to an iPad in Sidecar. MacOS’s built-in window management features are sub par, to say the least. All you need is one point of friction on a single display, be that a wanting to view two PDFs side-by-side or wanting a narrow waterfall app (like Tweetbot) to be set beside a browser page for reading.Įxternal displays exacerbate the need, though. It doesn’t take multiple external displays for someone to find a need for a window management app. Kernerman English Multilingual Dictionary © 2006-2013 K Dictionaries Ltd. "There's no evidence that any material assets were taken, which is a good thing, and certainly the leak won't have any influence on development or anything of the sort. In a recent earnings call, CEO of GTA publisher Take-Two Interactive, Strauss Zelnick said that the leak was "terribly unfortunate", before adding that "we take those sorts of incidents very seriously indeed". Since then, Rockstar and parent company Take-Two have spoken out about the leaks. We don't allow comments that has download links to the leak." The dedicated GTA 6 reddit has also taken all links, pictures, and videos of the leak offline, and has committed to staying online with one condition: "We will allow discussions related to the leak without attaching the leaks.
